HARTLAND — Mostly routine business and a small budget awaits Hartland voters on Saturday at the town’s annual Town Meeting. The proposed municipal budget is down $37,000 from last year, and voters will consider 21 articles at 9 a.m. in the Town Hall. The current municipal budget is $1.51 million. A proposed ordinance about property maintenance needs voter approval to provide the town with legal standing to bring unsightly property into compliance.

The ordinance would allow the town to require homeowners to clean up unsightly property and the legal means to back it up, according to Town Manager Susan Frost.

Another article seeks the authority to take $4,000 from the cemetery trust account to complete the rehabilitation of Ireland Cemetery. The Hartland Historical Society took on the project last year with fundraising and a contract to clean and repair stones in half the cemetery. With the fund just short of its goal, the town is asked to contribute to complete the project this year. The town’s Community Couples Club will sell coffee and baked goods at the Saturday meeting to supplement an annual scholarship fund.

There are no contested races in Friday’s elections.
