GORHAM — Police say excessive speed contributed to a fiery crash that killed Jason Fowler, 31, of Scarborough.
Fowler was driving a Buick Regal near 165 Burnham Road at 2:30 a.m. when he lost control on a curve, said Sgt. Dan Young. Fowler was thrown from the car, which crashed into several trees and burst into flames, he said.
Fowler was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fowler lived nearby and police have not yet determined where he came from or his destination. Police are investigating whether alcohol played a role in the crash and the state medical examiner is performing tests to determine that, Young said.
