FARMINGTON -- Selectmen elected Ryan Morgan as the new chairman of their board Tuesday.
The previous chairman, Stephan Bunker, had been voted out of office Monday at the annual Town Meeting in a four-person race for two selectmen's seats.
Morgan and Selectwoman Jessica Berry were nominated for the position.
Newly elected Joshua Bell, along with Andrew Hufnagel and Morgan, picked Morgan for the position, with Berry and Selectman Dennis Pike abstaining.
Hufnagel was elected vice chairman, and Pike was chosen board secretary.
Bunker attended the meeting and said he would be interested in helping the town through serving on a board or a committee.
"I still have a fire and an interest to continue to offer my service to the community," he said.
Morgan thanked Bunker for his service and said he has been a mentor to the board.
"I appreciate his service and his hard work. He's a tough act to follow," Morgan said.
Bell said he is looking forward to serving on the board.
"Hopefully, I can do all I can to be a good steward of taxpayers' dollars," he said.
