MOSCOW -- Residents will vote on a proposed $432,200 budget at 7 p.m. Monday at Moscow Elementary School.
The proposed 2010 budget is down 4 percent from 2009, Selectman J. Donald Beane said, and includes $290,502 to be raised from taxpayers and $141,698 to be taken from surplus.
The town is asking if residents will approve ending curbside recycling, starting in 2011. Costs total $8,557 for the town to pick up people's recycling each year.
The town is also asking if residents will approve transferring $85,140 from the sand and salt shed fund to an account for the 2016 bicentennial events. The town has been saving for a sand and salt shed to meet state requirements, but the law has changed, Beane said.
When asked if the town needs a sand and salt shed, Beane said, "We're getting along without one now."
Elections are from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday at Town Hall. It is the first time in 48 years that there is a contested race for town clerk, between incumbent Leola Rollins and Dorothy Farrell.
There are 363 registered voters in Moscow.
