WASHINGTON – The vote on a compromise measure tightening background checks for gun purchases fell six votes short of the 60 votes needed for passage Wednesday. Both of Maine’s senators, Susan Collins and Angus King, voted in favor of the measure. Here’s how the nation’s senators voted, as reported on the U.S. Senate’s website:
