PARIS — A registered sex offender from Maine has admitted to violating his probation by volunteering on a school-sponsored field trip.
Rodney Heath of Otisfield was charged with prohibited contact with a minor after attending a field trip organized by the Oxford Hills Technical School in Paris.
A hearing on whether his probation will be revoked was continued until Dec. 14.
The director of the school tells the Sun Journal the field trip was a weekend volunteer event, and students were invited to bring family members. Heath was a relative of one of the students and helped students in a cleanup project in Fryeburg.
Heath was convicted of charges including unlawful sexual conduct in 2007 and in 2008 pleaded no contest to a charge of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl
