WILTON -- A woman from the Knox County town of Hope was injured Tuesday morning after she slammed her car into the rear end of a parked tractor-trailer in a convenience store's parking lot.
Kristi Van Blarcom, 34, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Impala about 10:15 a.m. when it hit the empty logging truck, Wilton Police Chief Heidi Wilcox said.
Van Blarcom was taken by Northstar Ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, where she was treated for minor injuries, according to Wilcox.
Scott McAlpine, 48, of Jay, the rig's driver, was not on board when the accident happened. Wilcox said he was inside the Big Apple store on U.S. Route 2 at the time. The truck, registered to Merrill Logging Co., of Jay, was not badly damaged.
The car, which had dealer license plates, was on loan from Tuttle's Auto Sales, of New Sharon. It was destroyed, Wilcox said.
Wilcox said it was unclear Tuesday why Van Blarcom drove into the parked vehicle or how fast she was going. Wilton police Officer Andrew Hardy is investigating the accident. No charges are expected, Wilcox said.
