Administration fears Second Amendment

The current administration and its supporters' have renewed attacks on the Constitution of the United States, specifically the Second Amendment.

The Second Amendment has nothing to do with hunting, shooting or other sports.

It is about an individual's right to keep and bear arms, a right that shall not be infringed upon.

I struggle to understand what many individuals who support Washington's renewed gun ban initiatives are thinking.

For example, many of the people who support this ban initiative also seem to support a woman's right to abortion.

Abortion stops more than a million defenseless beating hearts every year in this country alone. Yet they say the gun ban is about the children.

These same people also seem to think it is a good idea to give F-16 strike fighters and Abrams tanks to the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt.

The country's leader spouts anti-American rhetoric, anything but allegiance.

Why doesn't the government ban alcohol and tobacco? Both are proven killers of thousands of people every year.

I contend it's because they don't care. Washington is not afraid of alcohol, tobacco or the Muslim Brotherhood.

They are, however, scared to death of the Second Amendment, the only immediate remediation for a tyrannical government out of control.

Remember: Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

We should be grateful for the genius and foresight of our Founding Fathers to afford us the opportunity to protect ourselves, our nation from tyrants past, present and future. To relinquish our Second Amendment would be a death knell for the country.

I believe it was Ben Franklin who once said, "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
