Alcohol abusers should not be allowed firearms

Letter to the Editor

So, if people have abused drugs, they can't have a firearm, but, if they abuse alcohol, they're allowed a firearm?

I don't see much safety in that. How does the state allow someone to get away with that?

I believe it is time that Maine finally decides to outlaw the purchase of any firearm with a prior OUI conviction. If they can't drive safely like all the other people in their state, why should they be allowed to own a firearm?

They're just as much of a danger with a firearm and an alcohol problem as they are driving under the influence. It's completely insane.

If our government decides to ban any firearms, it should first ban firearms from anyone who has abused alcohol before it even thinks about banning firearms from everyone else.
