Carpooling can save money in school budget

Each morning I commute to work utilizing the West River Road in Waterville. There is always a steady stream of vehicles turning into and out of Waterville Junior High School. Have any reporters done any study to find out how many students are riding the buses each day? I would think the districts could save a lot of money by having those parents pick up one or two kids on their way to drop their child off to school.

I would almost think they could stop the morning bus runs for most areas if parents carpooled other kids.
