Letter to the Editor
I read with interest Travis Lazarczyk's article on Jan. 13, when he noted that Dan Bolduc was ranked by the NE Hockey Journal as one of the top all-time players from New England.
This brought back fond memories of the winters of 1963 and 1964. The Waterville Pee Wees won the New England championship both years, back when all six states competed.
Waterville advanced to the national tournament in Michigan, played in Sault Ste. Marie the first year, and the next in St. Clair Shores.
Although we didn't "bring home the gold" as they say, Danny did all right for himself: He won the MVP of the national tournament both years. But don't ever expect to hear that from one so humble as Dan.
I had the privilege of playing with him on the 1964 team. I can still picture him tying those hulking 6-foot defensemen from Chicago and Detroit into knots as he made his way to yet another score. Great memories.
As a Pee Wee, Danny was one of the best in the country.
