Heartbreaking to know children are going hungry

An elementary school teacher recently told an acquaintance of mine that some of her students often come to school hungry, having had no breakfast.

And I thought, how can it be, in a country where so many have so much, that even one child goes to school hungry?

Although it is common knowledge that many children and adults go hungry in our country, the teacher's comment got my attention in a way that nothing else has so far.

We need to help the children, whether that be in contributions to a local food bank, a homeless shelter, the Salvation Army, or any other organization that can help prevent hunger in children.

It is heartbreaking to know that children are going hungry.
