The editorial speaks about Israel's vulnerability, but fails to mention that it has the world's fourth-most powerful military along with unconditional support from the U.S. It has an estimated 400 nuclear warheads and is still building. It refuses to sign the nuclear nonproliferation treaty.
The editorial says that Israel wants a peace agreement but fails to mention the generous offers that the Palestinians made that Israel rejected, as revealed by Al Jazeera news service.
Israelis continue to illegally settle in Palestine's West Bank and to build roads there that the Palestinian's aren't allowed to use, with complicity of the Israeli occupation army.
The editorial gives one unsubstantiated claim of Israel's help to America, but fails to mention the 20-plus times that we have used our veto power in the United Nations on resolutions that Israel didn't like. Sounds like a one-way street to me.
Israel has a robust economy but we give it $3 billion annually plus additional millions for defense and armaments, while our government talks of cutting Social Security.
