Is it just me or do the majority of letters from the pro-gun people express a real lack of maturity? What is it that they are so terrified about? Is the state of Maine such a violent and terrifying place that a person needs assault weapons and munition magazines capable of killing dozens of people in seconds?

What motivates people to amass stores of weapons in their homes in fear that the government will take away their so-called “God-given right to bear arms”? What has God got to do with it? These people put more faith in the almighty firearm than they do in an almighty God, for heaven’s sake.

There is nothing in the 10 Commandments that says, “Thou must bear arms,” but it does say, “Thou shalt not kill.” To that I say, “Ah, men!”
