AUGUSTA — Maine lawmakers are likely to vote this week on a $153 million supplemental state budget.
The budget rewrite covers $88 million of unanticipated Medicaid costs and $35 million in revenue shortfalls due to the lagging economy. It balances the budget for the year ending June 30.
The Appropriations Committee last week unanimously endorsed the budget, enhancing prospects for passage by the House and Senate.
Passage would clear the way for lawmakers to turn their full attention to the two-year budget for fiscal 2014-15, which begins July 1.
Gov. Paul LePage has proposed a $6.3 billion spending package.
