AUGUSTA — The Kennebec Valley Art Association invites the public to visit the lobby gallery at 45 Memorial Circle. Exhibiting artists include: Penny Markley, of Winthrop; Elizabeth Budd, of Litchfield; Kay Morris, of West Gardiner; Anita Morrissey, of Sidney; Judith Schuppien, of Pittston; and Pamela Hetherly, of Mount Vernon.

The group paints together Tuesday mornings at the Harlow Gallery in Hallowell, sometimes around town, and refer to themselves as the Tuesday Group. On view 9 a.m.-9 p.m. daily from Monday, through Friday, April 5, the installation can be viewed from outside the building, and is lit at night.

Markley is a painter in oils and acrylics, and is captivated by the light and landscapes of Maine, inland and coastal. Her work can be seen at Art Space Gallery in Rockland, on artcollectormaine.com and at markleystudios.com.

Budd has been painting for a number of years, occasionally exhibiting at the Harlow Gallery and other local places. Her favorite subjects include rural landscapes of ponds, streams, fields, forests and farmhouses; often of family property in Litchfield, a farm and orchard that has been in her family for several generations.

Morris is a realist/impressionist painter of watercolors, doing a variety of subject matter, including Maine scenes and still life. Her work is on exhibit at the Kennebec River Artisan Shop in Hallowell.

Morrissey has painted locally for more than 20 years and has shown in several venues in the Kennebec Valley. Her works often reflect the natural world in her impressionistic style and can be viewed on the Harlow Gallery website.

Schuppien is an oil painter working in a contemporary impressionist style. More of her work may be seen at ArtDogs in Gardiner, where she has a studio, and at Camden Falls Gallery in Camden.

Hetherly will paint anything that grabs her attention, using rich color and contrasting values. She will show at Slate’s in Hallowell in April, at Art Space Gallery in Rockland this summer, and her work can be viewed at pamelahetherly.com.
