SOUTH CHINA — Nick Mayo scored eight of his 11 points in the fourth quarter to help the Messalonskee boys basketball team pull away with a 55-44 win over Erskine Academy in South China.
Erskine struggled at the free throw line, making just 6 of 16 foul shots, including just 2 of 8 in the fourth quarter. Messalonskee went 8 for 10 from the line.
Jordan Holmes led Messalonskee with 19 points. Aaron Gagne added 11 points for Messalonskee.
Caleb McGuire had 13 points and eight rebounds for Erskine.

Valley 74, Buckfield 43: Carrington Miller had 26 points, seven rebounds and six assists to lead the visiting Cavaliers to the East/West Conference win.
Josh West added 11 points, eight rebounds, eight steals and five assists for Valley (1-0) while Seth Malloy scored 13 points. Dylan Belanger added nine points and seven rebounds.
Jared Eastman with a game-high 27 points for Buckfield (0-1).

Boothbay 82, Carrabec 27: Anthony DiMauro and John Hepburn each scored 16 points to lead the Seahawks to the MVC win in North Anson.
Andrew Hallihan added nine points for Boothbay (1-0).
William Crawford led Carrabec (0-1) with nine points while Richard Leighton chipped in with seven.

Nokomis 54, Mt. View 37: Andrew Cartwright had 17 points as the Warriors beat the Mustangs in the season opener for both teams in Newport.
Devan Haas added 12 points and Chandler Foss 10 for Nokomis.
Steven Davis had 12 for Mt. View.

Oceanside 80, Winslow 53: Isiah Stone-Patterson scored 22 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead the Mariners to KVAC B win in Rockland.
Shea Davenport added 15 points for Oceanside (1-0) while Sam Meklin chipped in with 12.
Winslow (0-1) was led by Trevor Lovely with 16 points and Justin Kervin and Nathan Lanphier with nine apiece.

Belfast 60, MCI 43: Ryan Rice scored 20 points as the Lion beat the Huskies in a KVAC B game in Pittsfield.
Douglass Bryant had 10 points for MCI (0-1).

Skowhegan 36, Mt. Blue 35: Eli Holland hit two foul shots with four seconds as the Indians beat the Cougars in a KVAC A game in Skowhegan.
Holland finished with 10 points for Skowhegan (1-0). Taylor Bacon had 11 and Patrick Poirier chipped in nine.
Kindle Bonsall had 16 points, seven rebounds and three steals for Mt. Blue (0-1).

Lisbon 40, Mt. Abram 37: Mason Haley scored 11 points and Brad Groh scored 10 points to give the Greyhounds a Mountain Valley Conference win over the Roadrunners in Lisbon.
Mt. Abram (0-1) was led by Calum Dixon, who scored a game-high 17 points. Ethan Boyd added 10 points.

Camden Hills 62, Waterville 58, OT: In Rockport, Colin Hart scored 21 points, including a game-tying basket at the buzzer in regulation, to lead the Windjammers to the KVAC Class B win. Hart scored six of his team’s 10 points in overtime. Chandler Crans added 12 points for the winenrs while Colin Morse scored 10. Waterville’s Cris Hale scored a game-high 23 points, Justin Jabar added 11 and Josh Gormley 10.

Lawrence 62, Brewer 57: Xavier Lewis scored 16 points as the Bulldogs won their KVAC A opener in Brewer.
Spencer Carey and Nick Noiles both added 11 points, while Aaron LaFrance chipped in with 10 for Lawrence (1-0).
