FALMOUTH – Marc Reynolds scored two goals, one in each half, and Robert Lentine added another to lead the Windham boys soccer team past Messalonskee 3-1 in the Class A state title game Saturday before 2,500 fans at Falmouth Stadium.
“To come as far as we did, it's fantastic,” said Messalonskee coach Tom Sheridan, whose team finished 13-3-2. “We fought real hard. Just getting here is fantastic. It was quite a run.”
Oleksandr Shatskov scored the lone goal for Messalonskee, which came early in the second half with his team trailing 2-0.
However, Reynolds put the game out of reach when he scored with 15:33 left in regulation.
Zach Sutherland stopped eight shots for Messalonskee while Dana King had eight for Windham (16-2-0), which won its first-ever Class A boys soccer title.
