Boles, 37, has a two-year record of 127-156 with the Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, a winning percentage of .449. This marks his sixth season in the Red Sox system and 13th as a manager in professional baseball.

Also returning to the Sea Dogs is pitching coach Bob Kipper, 48, for the fourth year in a row and sixth overall with the Sea Dogs.

New to Hadlock Field is hitting coach Rich Gedman, 53, who was promoted after two years as a Class A hitting coach. A Massachusetts native, Gedman spent 13 years in the majors including a decade with the Red Sox.

He was behind the plate for the 1986 World Series team and also caught the 20-strikeout performance by Roger Clemens that April.

Brandon Henry also returns for his second season as team trainer.
