WATERVILLE — Maranacook Community School graduate Dakota Duplissie had a goal and an assist to help the Thomas College men’s soccer team to a 4-0 win over Husson in North Atlantic Conference play.

The Terriers (7-6-1, 4-2 NAC) took just eight minutes to get on the board, as Duplissie scored his team-leading eighth goal on a through pass just inside the box from Joshua Phelps. Duplissie set up Tre Ming on Thomas’ second goal.

Thomas’ Kristian Pettersson recorded his first collegiate goal just before first half ended from a Kenny Cano feed in the box to give the Terriers a comfortable 3-0 lead going into halftime. Mikal Simmons scored for Thomas in the second half.

Mikkail Crockwell had four saves in the win. Brian Potter of Waterville stopped eight shots for Husson (5-6-3, 5-1-2 NAC).

UMaine-Farmington 1, Johnson St. 0:
Ibraham Achekh scored with two minutes left with an assist from Ryan Fairbanks to lift the Beavers to the North Atlantic Conference win in Johnson, Vt.
Ryan Blen made five saves for Johnson State (0-14-0, 0-8-0) while Ronie Morales and Derek Reilly combined for five stops for UMF (3-10-1, 1-4-1).

Hamilton 4, Colby 1: Dan Kreynaks scored two goals to lead the Continentals to the New England small College Athletic Conference win in Clinton, N.Y.
Grey Benjamin scored for Colby assisted by Andrew Woonton. Peter Quayle made two saves for Colby (4-8, 0-8) while Harris Pollack made five for Hamilton (3-5-3, 2-3-3).

UMaine-Farmington 3, Johnson State 0: Waterville graduate Kayla Tuttle scored all three goals to lead the Beavers to the NAC win in Johnson, Vt. Alexandra Crockett and Erskine graduate Bridget Humphrey had assists. Amber McCullock made 17 saves in goal for Johnson State (6-8, 3-5) while Beth Lebel made one for UMF (7-6-2, 6-1).

Husson 1, Thomas 0: Courtney Hill scored the game’s lone goal to lift the Eagles to the North Atlantic Conference win in Waterville.

In the 71st minute Sydney Costa crossed the ball across the box for Hill, who scored the game-winner.

Jess Poulin of Albion earned the shutout for Husson (7-8-1, 4-3-1 NAC) with five saves. Kate Thibodeau stopped six shots for Thomas (3-11, 1-6).

Colby 0, Hamilton 0: The Mules received nine saves from Emily Brook and are suddenly in the hunt for a NESCAC playoff spot after a 0-0 overtime tie with the Continentals.

The Mules have earned two straight league ties in moving to 4-5-2 overall and 1-5-2 in the conference. Hamilton is 3-4-3 overall and 1-4-3 in the NESCAC. Hamilton had a 23-11 shot advantage, but the Mules finished with a 4-3 edge in corner kicks. Annie Papadellis, Maddie Tight, and Alex Yorke all had two shots for Colby.

Field hockey

Maine 5, Fairfield 1: Nokomis graduate Marissa Shaw had three assists to help the Black Bears to the America East Conference win in Fairfield, Conn. Maine scored all five goals in the first half, two by Danielle Aviani.

Natasha Ford made seven saves for Maine (9-6, 2-2) while Caitlin Bennett made three for Fairfield.
 
Simmons 1, Thomas 0: Waterville graduate Jenna Gagnon scored 10 minutes into the second half to lift the Sharks to the North Atlantic Conference win in Waterville. Sofia Sourgiadakis made five saves in goal for Thomas (5-6, 2-5).

Colby 3, Hamilton 0: Erin Maguire scored two goals to lead the Mules to the New England Small College Athletic Conference win and a berth in the NESCAC playoffs. Megan Fortier capped the scoring with her team-leading ninth goal of the season. Victoria Fremtini made eight saves for Hamilton while Sarah Evans made three for Colby (7-4, 4-4).

Cross country

State of Maine Championships: Kate Connolly and Alanna McDonough finished second and third, respectively, to lead the Colby women to a second place finish in the State of Maine Championships in Waterville. Bates won the 10-team title with 32 points while Colby scored 52. Cony graduate Morgan Beede finished 13th overall to lead the University of Southern Maine to a fourth-place finish.
In the men’s race, Bowdoin’s Cody Horowitz finished first to lead the Polar bears to the team victory, Teammate and Erskine Academy graduate Sam Seekins finished fourth, Colby took second led by David Chelimo’s third-place finish. Teammates Charlie Coffman and Jeff Hale finished ninth and 10th, respectively. Cony graduate Briar Beede finished 15th for the University of Southern Maine.
