CASTLETON, Vt. — Forward Michael Hand scored two goals — one in each half — to lead the Thomas College men’s soccer team past team past Castleton State 2-0 in a North Atlantic Conference semifinal game Wednesday night.

Guled Guled had an assist for Thomas, which will host Colby-Sawyer in the conference title game Saturday.

Mikkail Crockwell finished with five saves for Thomas, including a breakaway stop on John Kendall. Nate Koenemann stopped four shots for the Spartans.

Field hockey

Castleton State 7, UMF 0: Blake Wardwell and Sarah Heffernan each scored two goals to lead the Spartans in a NAC semifinal game at Spartan Stadium in Castleton, Vt.

Rachel Preusser added a goal and two assists for the Spartans (13-6), who are in the final for a second straight year.

UMF finished 8-7.

Jess Galatioto finished the game with three saves for her fifth shutout of the season.

Also Wednesday, Taylor Lovley, of Newport, had an assist for the Husson field hockey team, which dropped a 2-1 decision to St. Joseph’s in a NAC semifinal game in Standish. Sabrina Vaillancourt, also of Newport, had an assist for the Eagles. (10-8, 6-3 in the NAC).

High school field hockey

Kents Hill 3, Hebron 0: Ashley Doyle scored two goals in the final five minutes to lift the Huskies to a victory over rival Hebron.

Paige Frawley scored the eventual game-winning goal in the first minute of the game for the Huskies. Sophie Boulet had five saves to earn the shutout.
