WATERVILLE — Trailing by 19 at halftime, Thomas took the lead for good with a 22-0 run in the second half to stun Johnson State, 76-66, in a North Atlantic Conference men’s basketball game Saturday afternoon at Mahaney Gymnasium.

Skowhegan graduate Levi Barnes scored a game-high 29 points for Thomas (2-4, 2-1). Garen Mano added 16 points off the bench, Marquis Pollard had eight points and 11 rebounds and Eric Westbrooks added eight points and eight boards. Thomas held Johnson St. scoreless for more than seven minutes during the 22-0 run in the second half.

Johnson St. (2-4, 0-3) had four players score in double figures, led by Bryan Hickey with 20 points. Hickey also grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds.

Lyndon St. 85, UMaine-Farmington 74: The Hornets made 32 of their 38 free throw attempts to take the NAC win in Farmington.

UMF (4-3, 2-1) had four players score in double figures, but also committed 20 turnovers, compared to only nine for Lyndon. Garrett Clemmer led the way with 18 points, while Maranacook grad Ben Johnson had 16 points and 16 rebounds and Mt. Blue grad Nick Hilton finished with 12 points. The Beavers cut a 16-point deficit to four points on a 3-pointer by Clemmer with 3:27 left, but couldn’t get any closer.

David Johnson scored 20 points and Rob Alers added 16 for Lyndon (1-3, 1-1).

Norwich 93, UMaine-Augusta 74: Brandon Rogers scored 22 points and hauled down 16 rebounds, but the Moose fell to the Cadets in Northfield, Vt.

Jesse Smith added 17 points, and Lawrence grad Keith Chesley chipped in with 11 points and 12 rebounds. UMA (1-12) committed 31 turnovers.

Evan McDonald led Norwich (2-4) with 27 points. Tom McDonald hit for 25.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Maine 60, Brown 59: Sigi Koizar made the tie-breaking free throw with 2 seconds to play as the Black Bears squeaked past Brown in Providence, R.I.

Koizar, who scored 11 points off the bench, also made a layup with 1:03 left to tie the game at 59-all. After making the first of two free throws with 2 seconds left, Koizar missed the second shot. Brown got the rebound and called timeout, but could not get off a shot before time expired. Liz Wood also had 11 points and Ashleigh Roberts led Maine (5-2) with 15.

Lauren Clarke led Brown (4-4) with 19 points and Sophie Bikofsky added 13.

Thomas 58, Johnson St. 51: Four Terriers starters scored between 10 and 16 points as they held on for the NAC victory in Waterville.

Elizabeth Goodall (16 points), Waterville grad Ashleigh Gagne (14), Nokomis grad Emilee Reynolds (13) and Lexi Merrifield (10) all scored in double figures for Thomas. The Terriers (2-6, 2-1) also held Johnson St. to 28 percent shooting.

Brittany Robertson scored 16 points for Johnston St. (2-5, 2-1).

UMaine-Farmington 85, Lyndon St. 52: Freshman Kennadi Grover poured in 21 points in her first college start as the Beavers cruised to the NAC win in Farmington.

Ayla Allen had 15 points and 13 rebounds for UMF (3-4, 2-1). Lindsay Ranquist and Hannah Roy each finished with 10 points, while Meghan Smith made the most of her 16 minutes on the floor, with eight points and 11 rebounds.

Emily Gray hit five 3-pointers and scored 29 points in 18 minutes for Lyndon St. (0-4, 0-2).

Bowdoin 83, Colby 69: Traip grad Selena Lorrey tied a school record with six 3-pointers and scored 21 points to lead the Polar Bears in Waterville.

Shannon Brady played just 23 minutes for Bowdoin (7-0), but contributed 17 points and 11 rebounds. Megan Phelps added 10 points and nine rebounds. The Bears led 43-41 in the second half when they went on an 18-0 run to ice the game.

Desi Smith scored 15 points for Colby (3-6). Hall-Dale grad Carylanne Wolfington added 14 points and eight rebounds, while Cony grad Mia Diplock had 11 points and seven assists.

Bates 104, UMaine-Augusta 83: Meredith Kelly had a school-record 42 points on 18-for-30 shooting as the Bobcats held off the Moose in the consolation game of the Ed Hockenbury Classic at Norwich University in Northfield, Vt.

UMA (4-6) suited up only six players for the game, and Richmond grad Jamie Plummer (26 points) and Arreonte Lee (23 points, 12 assists) each played the full 40 minutes. Monmouth grad Jenn Lola added 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Moose.

In addition to her 42 points, Kelly had eight rebounds and seven steals. Chelsea Nason had 15 points, seven assists, and seven steals for the Bobcats (6-4).

MEN’S HOCKEY

Colby 4, Connecticut College 3 (OT): Ben Chwick fed Nick Lanza for the goal on a 2-on-0 breakaway in overtime, giving the Mules the dramatic New England Small College Athletic Conference win in Waterville.

Chwick scored two goals and now has seven goals and six assists this season. Jack Bartlett also scored for the Mules, who led 2-0 after one period and never trailed in the game. Sam Parker made 22 saves for Colby (4-3-2, 2-3-1).

The Camels (1-8-0, 1-5-0) got their goals from Ryan Mowery, Keith Veronesi and Mike Sinsigalli. JC Cangelosi had two assists and Tom Conlin finished with 27 saves.

WOMEN’S ICE HOCKEY

Southern Maine 5, Colby 3: Erin Banfield and Talya Bent each scored two goals to lead the Huskies past the Mules in Gorham.

Chelsea Boucher also scored for USM (6-3-0). Julia Pearl and Lynn Kozlowski each picked up two assists. Nia Kelly made 25 saves.

Colby sophomore Megan Fortier scored two power-play goals in the third period, giving her seven for the season and matching her total for last winter. Katie McLaughlin had the other goal, Annie Papadellis had two assists, and Brianne Wheeler stopped 30 shots. Colby is 3-4-1.

Maine 3, Brown 3 (OT): Trailing 3-0 with two minutes left in the second period, the Black Bears came back to salvage a tie in Orono.

Brittany Huneke scored a power-play goal late in the second period to get Maine (1-12-5) on the board. Audra Richards found the net with 4:01 to go in the third period, and Kelly McDonald got the equalizer with 1:22 remaining. Karissa Kirkup assisted on both goals in the third period.

Janice Yang, Jennifer Nedow and Catherine Leboeuf all had goals for Brown (1-9-3). Kaitlyn Keon added two assists.

Also Saturday: Lawrence graduate Dan Fleming scored 13 points to lead Husson past Maine Maritime 103-57 in men’s basketball action. Maranacook graduate Kyle Boucher scored seven points for Maine Martime….Monmouth graduate Kevin Desmond, an All-American last winter in the 800 meters, opened his season by taking first in the 600 meters in 1:22.43 for the University of Southern Maine.
