BINGHAM — Carrington Miller hit a long 3-pointer with about five minutes left in regulation to surpass the 1,000-point plateau as the Valley High School boys basketball team beat Buckfield 92-39 in an East/West Conference game Tuesday.

Miller entered Tuesday’s game 35 points shy of the milestone. He added 10 assists, nine in the first half, and nine rebounds.

“He is as unselfish as scorer as you can get,” Valley coach Wade Morrill said.
Miller and the Cavaliers were aware of where Miller stood in relations to the milestone, according to Morrill, who said his team made a strong effort on the defensive end of the floor to get Miller to his milestone.

“The guys were working really hard,” Morrill said. “People focus on the individual, and it is a great accomplishment, but everyone has to be willing to sacrifice, even the scorer.”
Miller is the first Valley player to surpass 1,000 career points since Travis Hovey in 2006.

fter Miller hit the 3-pointer to surpass 1,000, the game was stopped and he was presented with the game ball.
