The boys of Oxford Hills High School of South Paris and girls of Cumberland’s Greely High took the lead in the Class A Alpine skiing championships on Thursday, with team victories in the giant slalom racing at Shawnee Peak in Bridgton.

The Mt. Blue boys are in second place in Class A, six points behind the Vikings. In Class C, Mountain Valley of Rumford won both boys and girls giant slalom at Sunday River in Newry.

Joseph Lesniak was the Class A boys winner with a two-run time of one minute, 32.24 seconds. Thomas Lesniak of Falmouth was second (1:34.21), while Reilly Bolduc of Lewiston was third (1:35.44).

Skowhegan’s Michael Miller placed seventh with a time of 1:38.69. Mt. Blue’s Felix Bonnevie was eighth (1:39.43).

Elyse Dinan of Greely was the Class A girls winner with a time of 1:36.09. Falmouth skiers Alex Shapiro and Krysia Lesniak finished second and third. Mallory Parker of Mt. Blue was eighth at 1:43.37.

At Sunday River, Sarah Klein of Mountain Valley took the win in 1:23.9. Winthrop’s Annalise Guerette was second at 1:24.1. Becki Bryant of Monmouth, the leader for the Skimeister award, was seventh (1:29.4).

Louis Frumer of Waynflete was the boys winner with a time of 1:15.4. Nick Newman of Mountain Valley was second (1:20.2), and led a dominant day for the Falcons. Six Mountain Valley skiers finished in the top 13, and the Falcons edged Fort Kent for the overall lead, 23 points to 26.
