BANGOR — John Bapst scored four unaswered goals to beat Lawrence 4-1 in an Eastern B quarterfinal boys hockey game Tuesday night.
No. 2 John Bapst improves to 13-5-1 and advances to play No. 2 Presque Isle in the quarterfinals on Saturday. No. 7 Lawrence ends the season 6-13-0.
Lawrence took a 1-0 lead 57 seconds into the game when Adam Littlefield scored, with assists from Jack Flynn and Jordan Nutting. Zach Yachanin scored at the 13:35 mark of the period to tie the game at 1-1.
Hunter Pate’s goal midway through the second gave the Crusaders the lead for good. Kurt Massey and Pate added third period goals for John Bapst.
Kyle McLain made 25 saves for Lawrence. Jared Leonard had 20 stops for John Bapst.
Women’s college lacrosse
St. Joseph’s 17, Thomas 6: Miranda Tinsman netted two goals, but it wasn’t enough for the Terriers, who fell to the Monks in Portland.
Ceara DiBiase had a goal and two assists for Thomas (0-1). Erin Nelligan, Brittany Premo and Jasmine Ryan also scored.
Haley Nason made 18 saves for St. Joseph’s (1-0).
