BOSTON — A magazine photo shoot for a cover marking the anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings has drawn thousands of people, including survivors, emergency workers, well-wishers and city officials.

The Sports Illustrated cover shoot was held Saturday at the marathon finish line, where hundreds of people had gathered to watch runners finish the race when the twin explosions occurred on April 15, 2013. Three people were killed and 260 others injured.

Organizers of the event estimate 3,000 people came out for the “Boston Strong” photo shoot. Participants included Marc Fucarile, a 35-year-old roofer from Stoneham who lost his right leg above the knee in the bombings and was the last survivor to leave the hospital.

Mayor Martin J. Walsh and Police Commissioner William Evans were also in attendance.
