Andrew Libby of Thornton Academy has been named Maine's Gatorade High School Football Player of the Year for 2012.
Libby, a junior running back/safety, led the Golden Trojans to the Class A state championship with a 37-23 win over Lawrence High of Fairfield. Libby scored two touchdowns in the game and had all three touchdowns in the 20-13 win over Cheverus in the regional final that ended the Stags' three-season winning streak at 34.
He finished with 30 touchdowns for the season.
