SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Mt. Blue High School graduate Michelle Oswald has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Field Hockey Player of the Year.

Oswald, a senior at the University of New England, finished the regular season second in assists with seven and third in points with 21. She also had seven goals, good for sixth in the league.

Also for UNE, Bree Tupper of Winthrop was named to the conference’s second team.

Colby men’s basketball

adds 2 assistant coaches

WATERVILLE — Damian Farley and Nelson Albino have been named assistant coaches for the Colby men’s basketball team.

Farley joins the Mules after serving as a top assistant for the men’s basketball program at Clarkson University the last three seasons. Albino, meanwhile, was the director of basketball operations at New Jersey Institute of Technology for the last two seasons.

Both are joining the staff of new Colby men’s coach Damien Strahorn, who took over when Dick Whitmore resigned earlier this year.

Husson’s Potter earns

NAC 1st-team honors

Erskine Academy graduate Brian Potter, a freshman at Husson University, was named to North Atlantic Conference men’s soccer first-team all-conference.

Potter has six shutouts this season for the Eagles, who will play Castleton State in the North Atlantic Conference championship game today. He has started 11 games and has a .66 goals against average.
