BATH — Nick Danner dominated the throwing events, like he hoped. Bethanie Brown entered the record books, like she hoped.

Together, the Waterville seniors led their respective teams to yet another sweep at the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B meet.

“We wanted to make a statement and we did,” said Danner, who won the shot put, discus and javelin. “We wanted to show the southern teams like York and Greely that we are ready to go. We wanted to show them what we’ve got.”

The Panthers had plenty Monday at McMann Field.

The Waterville girls cruised to the KVAC B title with 176.57 points. Winslow was second with 117.33 while Camden Hills was third (62.67). Belfast (59.57) and Erskine (57) rounded finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

The Waterville boys finished with 164 points to easily get past Belfast (98), Erskine (62) and MCI (55).

“It was a weird day,” Waterville coach Ian Wilson said. “The meet had a weird feel to it. I think there was a natural letdown for preparing for the KVACs on Saturday only to have them moved to (Monday). We were flat in some areas, but we had a lot of good performances.”

Brown set the KVAC record in the 3,200 with a time of 10 minutes, 39.58 seconds. She broke her own record — which she set last season — by about 20 seconds.

“It felt fast,” Brown said. “I felt it was a pretty good effort. It felt pretty good.”

Brown also won the 1,600 (4:56.56) and anchored the victorious 4×400 relay team that finished in 4:18.16.

Kellie Bolduc won the 100 hurdles (15.85) and triple jump (36 feet, 2.75 inches). She was also second in the 300 hurdles in 49.18.

Rachel Bergeron also won the shot put (35-0.25) while teammate Sarah Shoulta took the 300 hurdles (48.31) to lead the Panthers as well..

On the boys side, Danner won the shot put with a throw of 47-10.5. He won the discus (144-11) and javelin (166-4) with big-time throws as well.

“I really wanted to get all three,” he said. “I had two (personal records) in the discus and shot. It was a good day.”

Added Wilson: “Danner was a beast (Monday). He was awesome.”

Devin Burgess won the pole vault by clearing 14-6 while Chris Hale won the high jump (5-10). Chris Cote also rebounded from a sixth-place finish in the 1,600 to win the 3,200 in 10:20.13 for Waterville.

Jordhan Levine won the 300 hurdles (41.63) for the Panthers as well.

Also at the KVAC B meet, Erskine’s Jade Canak set school records in the long and triple jumps.

She won the long jump (17 feet) and finished second in the triple jump (35-8.5). Erskine teammate Bridget Humphrey won the discus (113-3) as well.

Erskine senior Zac Lee won the 110 hurdles in a school-record time of 15.46.

“To get a (personal record) by three-hundredths of a second is exciting,” he said. “I had a good start and just finished fast.”

MCI sophomore Jonathan Santiago won the 100 (11.40) and the 200 (23.60).

The Winslow girls received strong performances from Alliyah Veilleux, Bethany Winkin and Audrey Jones.

Veilleux won the 100 in 12.65 while Winkin won the 800 in 2:27.90. Jones won the race walk in 8:45.65.
