PRESQUE ISLE — J.T. Towle and Jake Dexter each had a hat trick as the Messalonskee boys hockey team beat Presque Isle 12-2 in an Eastern B game Saturday at the Presque Isle Forum.

“It was a good team effort,” Messalonskee coach Mike Latendresse said. “We had some balanced offense and despite the long travel, the guys played well.”

Chase and Jared Cunningham each had two goals and four assists for the Eagles (3-0-0). Towle had two assists to go along with his three goals. Ben Weeks stopped 11 shots to earn the victory. Tyler Seeley and Adam Flynn scored for Presque Isle (1-3-0).

Gorham 8, Waterville 2: The Rams scored seven goals in the first two periods en route to the Class A win at Colby College.

Six different players scored for Gorham, led by Chris Hardy with two goals and an assist and Blake Babineau with a goal and two assists.

Dalton Dennis scored both goals for Waterville while Todd Servent and Wil Bolduc recorded assists.

Justin Broy made 37 saves in goal for Gorham (2-2-0) while Kaleb Kane had 29 saves for Waterville (1-2-0).

Skowhegan 5, Edward Little 2: Chase Whttemore scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Indians to the Class A win at Sukee Arena in Winslow.

The Indians broke a 2-2 with three third-period goals from Whittemore, Chase Nelson and Sam Haver. Anthony-James Paul also scored for Skowhegan while Sedric Simmons and Branden Dyer scored for the Red Eddies.

Michael Hammond made 19 saves for Edward Little (1-2) while Sam Edmondson made 12 for Skowhegan (2-0).

Boys basketball

Valley 77, Vinalhaven 63: Carrington Miller recorded a triple double to lead the Cavaliers to the East/West Conference win in Bingham.

Miller had 30 points, 11 rebounds, 11 steals and eight assists for Valley (3-1). Teammate Josh West added 24 points and Seth Malloy 11.

For Vinalhaven (0-5), Scott James scored 17 points, Austin Christiansen 13 and Bryon Thomas 12.

Madison 61, Mtn. Valley 54: Dyan Price scored 24 points to go with eight rebounds and four assists to lead the host Bulldogs to the Mountain Valley Conference win. Dustin West added 10 points for the winners while Ryan Nichols paced the Falcons with 13 points. Madison is 1-3, Mountain Valley is 2-1.

Girls basketball

Madison 42, Oak Hill 39: Sam Bruce scored six points in the fourth quarter as the Bulldogs rallied to beat the Raiders in a Mountain Valley game in Wales.

Bruce finished with 17 points as Madison remains unbeaten at 4-0.

Hayley Marshell also had 17 points for Oak Hill (0-3).

Bangor 59, Skowhegan 35: Cordelia Stewart scored 22 points as the Rams beat the Indians in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A game in Bangor.

Denae Johnson added 12 points for Bangor (3-0).

Cheyenne Malloy and Morgan Buker each had eight points for Skowhegan (1-2).

Also Saturday: Mt. Blue High School graduate Ben Russell scored eight points a the Maine Maritime Academy men’s basketball team beat the University of Maine at Presque Isle 66-58 in Castine. … Cony High School graduate Mackenzie Dufour had seven points, six assists and four rebounds in the St. Joseph’s College women’s basketball team’s 64-60 loss to Framingham State in Farmingham, Mass.
