Nokomis rallies to remain unbeaten

WINSLOW -- Nokomis remained undefeated by erasing a five-point deficit at the start of the fourth quarter and outscoring Winslow by 11 in overtime, for a 56-45 victory in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B girls basketball action Tuesday night.

Traci Carson scored 16 points and Kelsie Richards 13 for Nokomis (15-0). Despite winning the last two Eastern B titles, the Warriors lost at Winslow in both seasons.

Elizabeth Ferry scored 14 points for Winslow (7-8), which led 33-28 at the end of the third quarter. The two teams combined to make 33 free throws on the night.

Madison 47, Monmouth 22: Sam Bruce scored 11 points as the Bulldogs beat the Mustangs in a Mountain Valley Conference game in Monmouth.

Kristen Wood added 10 points for Madison (12-3).

Molly Menice had 10 points for Monmouth (7-9).

Messalonskee 50, Brewer 47: Megan Pelletier scored 13 of her 27 points in the fourth quarter as the Eagles came from behind to defeat the Witches in Brewer.

Messalonskee (11-4) trailed 39-32 entering the fourth quarter. Pelletier also finished with 13 rebounds and four steals. Mary Badeen added nine points, 11 rebounds, and five assists. In the fourth quarter, Badeen had two key steals and Kassi Michaud made a clutch 3-pointer.

Lindsay Houp scored 20 points for Brewer (7-8).

Mt. Blue 50, Bangor 45: Miranda Nicely had 14 points and eight steals to lead the Cougars to the KVAC A win in Farmington.

Amy Hilton led the scoring with 17 points for Mt. Blue (10-4) while Mackenzie Conlogue chipped in with five assists.

Bangor (5-9) was led by Kristen Henigan with 14 points and Katie Brochu with 10.

Mt. View 42, MCI 33: Janelle Thornley had 17 points as the Mustangs defeated the Huskies in Thorndike.

Anna Piotti added 12 points for Mt. View (2-14).

Kylee Alton scored nine points and Sarah Bennett added eight for MCI (2-13).

Richmond 53, Valley 24: Danica Hurley scored 15 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead the Bobcats to the East-West Conference win in Bingham.

Payton Johnson added 11 points for Richmond (14-1).

Teagan Laweryson and Hali McQuilkin each scored eight points for Valley (4-12).

Mt. Ararat 33, Skowhegan 29: Mallory Nelson had 10 points as the Eagles beat the Indians in a KVAC A game in Skowhegan.

Amanda Johnson scored 15 points for Skowhegan (10-5).

Mt. Ararat is now 10-5.

Hampden 37, Lawrence 35: Ashley Danforth scored a game-high 19 points to lead the Broncos to the KVAC Class A win in Fairfield. Danielle Spaulding led the Bulldogs with 12 points. Hampden is 9-5, Lawrence is 2-13.

Carrabec 44, Winthrop 33: Emma Pluntke scored 12 points as the Cobras rallied to beat the Ramblers in an MVC game in Winthrop.

Jocelyn Jackson added 11 points for Carrabec (4-11).

Shauna Carlson scored 11 points for Winthrop (0-14).
