SOCHI, Russia — Goalie Tuukka Rask won’t play in Finland’s Olympic men’s hockey semifinal against Sweden because of an unspecified illness.

The Boston Bruins’ Rask was ruled out shortly before Friday’s game at Bolshoy Ice Dome, giving Kari Lehtonen his second start of the Olympics.

Rask made 37 saves in Finland’s 3-1 victory over host Russia in the quarterfinals on Wednesday. He stopped 71 of 78 shots over three games in Sochi, winning twice and losing in overtime to Canada.

Lehtonen plays for the Dallas Stars. He made 19 saves in Finland’s 6-1 victory over Norway in the preliminary round.

San Jose Sharks goalie Antti Niemi was Lehtonen’s backup against Sweden. Niemi hasn’t played in the tournament.
