COLLEGE ROUNDUP: Pelletier scores 17 in win

WATERVILLE -- Messalonskee High grad Megan Pelletier scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to help the Thomas College women's basketball team take a season-opening 64-53 win over the University of Maine at Augusta.

USM 73, UMF 45: Nicole Garland scored 18 points to lead the Huskies past the Beavers in the first round of the Tip-Off Classic at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth.

Haley Jordan and Mariah Callender each scored 10 points for USM (1-0). Rebecca Knight had 10 rebounds for the Huskies.

Holly Oliver led UMF (0-1) with 14 points.
