SKOWHEGAN -- Jesse Skillings had two goals and four assists to lead the Skowhegan Area High School field hockey team past Bangor 7-0 in the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A season-opener for both teams Monday.
Michaela Michonski had three goals and Sarah Finnemore added a pair for the defending Eastern A champion Indians (1-0).
Gardiner 8, Erskine 0: Senior forward Hayley Thibeau scored four goals and Becca Paradee added five assists to lead the host Tigers in an Eastern B game. Sabrina Wilkins and Sierra Hobart each added two goals for Gardiner (1-0).
Alley Beaulieu needed to make just one save to earn the victory.
Tabatha Plourde stopped 23 shots for Erskine (0-1).
Girls soccer
Hampden 9, Skowhegan 0: Michaela Stevenson scored four goals and Kaylee Lecavalier added two to lead the visiting Broncos in an Eastern A game.
Kelsey Kuzio, Erin Jeter and Alex Winchester also scored for Hampden (1-0).
Andrea Quirion had 23 saves to pace the Indians (0-1).
Boys soccer
Hampden 5, Skowhegan 0: Grant Safford scored two goals to lift the Broncos (1-0) in an Eastern A game in Hampden.
Chase Palmer had 20 saves to lead the Indians (0-1).
