WATERVILLE — Hall-Dale graduate Carylanne Wolfington scored 11 points and Waterville graduate Jen Nale added 10 as the Colby women’s basketball team beat Thomas 72-40 in a non-conference game Tuesday night.

Diana Manduca led Colby (2-1) with 20 points, including four 3-pointers. Wolfington added six rebounds and made a pair of 3-pointers, while Nale made three 3s.

Messalonskee graduate Megan Pelletier scored 15 points for Thomas (1-1). Ashleigh Gagne grabbed 10 rebounds for the Terriers.

St. Josepgh’s 58, UM-Farmington 52: The Monks held the Beavers scoreless over the final 5:57 of the game, taking the non-conference win in Standish.

Messalonskee graduate Holly Oliver’s 3-pointer gave UMF a 52-51 lead, but the Monks retook the lead on an Abby Young layup with 5:41 to play.

Morgan Cahill led St. Joe’s (1-0) with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Young and Lindsay Moore each had 10 points for the Monks. Cony High School graduate Mackenzie Dufour added five points for St. Joe’s.

Lindsay Ranquist led UMF (0-2) with 13 points. Mt. Abram graduate Kenni Norton and Winslow graduate Elizabeth Ferry each added 11 points for the Beavers. Oliver finished with five points.

Men’s basketball

UM-Farmington 62, Colby 61: The Beavers saw an early double digit lead evaporate, but hung on for the non-conference win in Farmington.

UMF led 21-10 midway through the first half, but Colby (1-2) fought back, and took a 57-54 lead on a Chris Hudnut layup and free throw with 5:43 to play. Yusef Iman tied the game with a 3-pointer, and the Beavers took the lead for good on a Nate Carson jumper with 5:34 left.

Andrew Dickey led UMF(3-0) with 19 points. Carson added 16, and Maranacook graduate Ben Johnson scored 15 points for the Beavers.

Luke Westman came off the bench to lead the Mules with 20 points.

Women’s hockey

Colby 2, USM 1: In Waterville, the Mules scored twice in the opening period and made those goals stand up in a victory against the Huskies.

Natalie Fischer and Annie Papadellis scored for the Mules while Kailey Bubier scored for USM. Colby goaltender Brianne Wheeler made 20 saves while USM’s Jenn Fuller had 31. The Mules improve to 1-2 overall, while Southern Maine falls to 1-2-2.
